Loris Cantarelli

Since 1995 Loris Cantarelli’s professional activity includes comics, illustration and animated cinema, writing and editing essays, reviews and interviews for the monthly Fumo di China, where he has been editorial director since 2012.

He has published works in the bimonthly magazine Nostro Cinema, the cd-rom Shot! Magazine, the annual publication IF – Immagini & Fumetti and the quarterly magazine InformaVitt.

He currently writes for Vitt & Dintorni, the prozine Fumettomania, the annual magazine Manga Academica, the weekly il Giornalino, the monthly Urania.

He is credited in various critical volumes as Batman. La leggenda, Fede a strisce. L’elemento religioso nei fumetti, DiversAbili. Figli di una nuvola minore?, DizioNoir del Fumetto, La Valle dei Fumetti, Aldo di Gennaro. He wrote the main contribution on the numerous interactions between music and comics in the volume Spartiti di canto – Fumetti in musica e musica in fumetti, he edited for a year a weekly program on the Milanese Radio Popolare and collaborated as a cultural expert with many fantasy exhibition centers: Riminicomix, Napoli Comicon, BilBOlbul, Moncalieri Comics and FullComics & Games.

He collaborates with the specialized digital magazines www.drivemagazine.net, www.fantascienza.com, www.bilbolbul.net, www.lospaziobianco.it.

He edited with Paolo Guiducci the volumes Nel mezzo del cammin di una vignetta… Dante in strisce e Fumetti subacquei and together with the staff of Comicon Napoli the volumes Attilio Micheluzzi – Architetto d’avventure, L’audace Bonelli – L’avventura del fumetto italiano, Magic Disney – 3000 volte Topolino e Il possente Giornalino – 90 anni dalla parte dei bambini, Milo Manara. Visioni di un maestro del fumetto, L’incredibile Marvel. 75 anni di meraviglie nei fumetti.

He has also published some musical essays on U2 and Eric Clapton and has written about a quarter of the impressive book 1000 concerti che ci hanno cambiato la vita, edited by Ezio Guaitamacchi.

Since 2010 he has edited the encyclopedic-didactic blog illustrautori.blogspot.it on Italian illustrators and since 2012 the reports www.twitter.com/loriscantarelli with daily insights on art and popular culture between the second and third millennium.
