Roberto Grassilli

Roberto Grassilli was born in S. Pietro in Casale (BO).
In the 80s he began to publish comics, cartoons and strips in magazines and various newspapers.
As an illustrator he works for numerous clients, mainly publishers and collaborates in various capacities in the creation of events and shows, in particular Biografilm Festival of Bologna, Mare di Libri di Rimini, Cesena Comics & Stories and Festa della Rete / Blogfest.
In 1988 he founded the showbiz agency with Steo Zacchi (illustration and graphics for albums and adv campaigns for Italian musicians).
In 1990 he moved to London to work in Spielberg’s animated film studio on the cartoon Fievel goes West (Amblin, USA, 1991).
In 1991 he joined the editorial staff of the new satirical weekly Cuore, directed by Michele Serra. He remained until the qualification of art-director and the closure of the magazine in ’96.
In 97/98 he was responsible for publications for Pan Distribuzioni (Marvel Italia) and collaborated in the creation of commercial sites on the Internet.
In 1999 with Gianluca Neri and Gianluigi Mazzeschi he founded Clarence srl. Going through the years of the “net-economy”, he deals with marketing and graphics. Within the well-known portal he also publishes a daily strip (Sept. 2001): Net To Be which will also be collected in a book (Hops Libri, Milan, 2002).
In 2004, after settling in Rimini, he continued his activity as an illustrator and cartoonist. He collaborates in the creation of Il misfatto, the satirical insert of Il Fatto Quotidiano, designs and creates the graphics of the 40K online publishing series, of which he also designs the individual covers.
In 2015 he created the Diminished Reality.
In 2018/19 he illustrated two books for children: Orlando e il Pinguino (written by Sara Galli) and Pinno – un tuffo in aria (written by Elisa Mazzoli) for Bertoni Junior Editore.
Since 2020 he has been collaborating with Sabir Editore for which he realized, as author and illustrator La Realtà Diminuita (2020) and La polizia della nanna (2021). For the same publisher comes out this year a graphic novel (based on a story by the writer Lia Celi) entitled The famous balls of Arianna, premiered at “Portoimmaginario 2022”.
The “collateral” activity of greater weight involved him, especially from 1982 to 1991, as “lead singer” of the rock-band Lino and Mistoterital.
