Milo Manara

Descrizione:

Milo Manara, born in Luson in 1945 and raised in Verona, is one of the foremost masters of contemporary comics. Famous for his precise line and the unmistakable sensuality of his female protagonists, he has pushed the medium into the realm of globally respected art.

Starting out in the 1960s and later teaming up with heavyweights such as Hugo Pratt, Neil Gaiman, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Marvel, Manara produced landmarks like Giuseppe Bergman, The Game, Indian Summer, and the graphic biography Caravaggio. His long-standing connection with Federico Fellini was equally crucial: Manara created posters and illustrations for Interview and The Voice of the Moon, and developed the unfinished comic project Journey to Tulum, later continued as The Journey of G. Mastorna, Nicknamed Fernet after the director’s death.

Spanning comics, illustration, film and visual art, his career keeps a tight balance between erotic charge, narrative clarity and the elegance of the line. Exhibited worldwide and chronicled in countless books, Manara occupies a central place in today’s visual culture.
