Maria Laura Sanapo was born in Castiglione del Lago, in the province of Perugia. Since childhood, she has loved music and the visual arts, drawing superheroes even before learning to read and write. She made her debut in 2013 with a short story published in the Italian magazine Denti, by Edizioni Inkiostro.

Soon after, she began working for the US market, collaborating with publishers such as DC Comics, Warner Bros, Dynamite, and Zenescope, illustrating titles including DC Bombshells, Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Batwoman, Green Lantern, Black Adam, Aquaman, Vampirella, Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, Red Sonja, and Witches, both as an interior artist and cover artist.

She has also worked with Archie Comics (covers for Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Valiant, Titan Comics, and Ubisoft, drawing covers for the Assassin’s Creed comic book adaptation.

Maria Laura also teaches at the International School of Comics in Florence and the Joe Kubert School of Graphic Arts.
