Ina Sommer
Ina Sommer is Head of Animation at German Films, the federal agency that promotes German cinema and talent abroad. A Media & Communication graduate from LMU Munich, she has logged 25 years in the business as TV editor and producer for FWU, Sony and others, then served as Head of Development at TRIXTER.
Since 1 September 2020 she has run Animation Germany, the German Films programme designed to broker co-productions, service deals and inward investment for the country’s animation and VFX sector—an area now fuelled by streaming demand for finished shows. Under her watch titles such as The Amazing Maurice, Butterfly Tale, Coppelia and Moonbound have moved forward, giving the industry export-grade proof of concept.
For German studios and producers she is the go-to strategist: mapping financing routes, opening doors at festivals, keeping pitches grounded in what foreign partners actually buy. The aim is clear—turn Germany into a dependable, world-class animation hub, no buzzwords required.
