Spaghetti fantasy and fantasy in Italy

With Luca Enoch, Gianluca Pagliarani, Jack Sensolini, and Antonello Venditti

In recent years, the world of Italian fantasy has been in turmoil: a genre very little frequented by Italian authors is exploding in a thousand different incarnations, from the most epic to the most grotesque, from the desire to create a narrative close to the imaginary to the rooting, instead, of adventures and magic within a purely Italic imaginary.

Let’s try to draw a map of these movements together with four protagonists of the scene: Luca Enoch and Gianluca Pagliarani, respectively co-creator and cover artist of Dragonero for Sergio Bonelli Editore; Jack Sensolini of Ignoranza Eroica, who together with Luca Mazza created the fantasy world Regno di Taglia, and Antonello Venditti, one of the most important Italian fantasy illustrators.
