Screenings of the short films in competition at the festival
Animation is often considered a minor child of cinema, but in reality it was born long before the invention of the Lumière brothers.
Its origins lie in all those ingenious techniques and technologies used by storytellers and entertainers to arouse wonder before the invention of the cinematograph: the ancient Chinese shadows and more modern instruments such as zootropes or optical theaters.
Yesterday as today, however, the basic need that accompanies the world of animated drawing is always the same: to arouse emotions and wonder.
For seven evenings, the courtyard of the Gambalunga library (in case of rain, the adjacent film library), turns into a cinematographic arena to see the short films participating in the Festival.
Viewers will find themselves in front of real masterpieces, able to leave their mark, make them reflect on deep themes or capable of snatching a smile.
A real journey to discover films that come from all over the world.
