Invelle is Simone Massi’s first feature film. The title, which means “no place” in the Marche dialect, refers to the peasant land of the Marche region, the director’s homeland. The film tells, between memory and misery, the twentieth century through the stories of three children from different eras. During the First World War, Zelinda lost her mother to the “Spanish flu” and witnessed the advent of Nazism. Assunta lives through the Nazi occupation between bombings and atrocities. Finally, Icarus experiences the “Years of Lead” and the depopulation of the countryside towards urban life. An intense and profound project, as only Massi masterfully knows how to build, made with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture and the support of Eurimages with the Italian production Minimum Fax Media and Swiss Amka Films Productions.
The film has the voices of Ascanio Celestini, Luigi Lo Cascio, Neri Marcorè, Toni Servillo, Filippo Timi, Mimmo Cuticchio, Marco Baliani, Gemma Massi, Achille Massi and the extraordinary Giovanna Marini.
