The festival presents the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award to one of the greatest Italian artists of all time: Altan.
Francesco Tullio-Atan (for all, simply Altan), born in Treviso in 1942, is the creator of the famous children’s character Pimpa (which later became a cartoon) and has collaborated with numerous Italian newspapers, including Linus and La Repubblica.
His art is characterized by irony, humor, satire and his unmistakable style of drawing. Altan is considered one of the great masters of Italian comics and his work has influenced numerous subsequent artists.
Altan is not only a great artist, he is also a great defender of freedom of expression. He has always fought against censorship and the limits imposed by politics and society, and has supported many movements for civil rights and freedom of the press.
Following: screening of the documentary: Mi chiamo Altan e faccio vignette, a film about the great cartoonist and the country that for over forty years tells and represents through his cartoons.
Un racconto della sua vita e della sua carriera con il contributo della famiglia, amici e colleghi – Paolo Rumiz, Michele Serra, Vauro, Sergio Staino e Zerocalcare – ma soprattutto attraverso i suoi personaggi, fra tutti la Pimpa e Cipputi, che nel documentario prendono vita attraverso attori in carne e ossa con le sembianze di Angela Finocchiaro, Paolo Rossi e Stefania Sandrelli.
