Happy birthday Hello Kitty
Happy birthday Hello Kitty
Cartoon Club celebrates the 50th anniversary of one of the most beloved and recognizable icons of pop culture globally: Hello Kitty, the famous white kitten (whose full name is Kitty White), who has the appearance of a stuffed cat and as the only accessory a red bow on her ear, turns 50 this year.
Born in 1974 as the mascot of the Sanrio company from the imagination of Japanese designer Yuko Shimizu, Hello Kitty despite her Japanese origin, made her debut in the United States in 1987 with the cartoon Hello Kitty’s Furry Tale Theatre. It wasn’t until 1989 that it became popular in Japan with the animated series Hello Kitty’s Fairy Tales.
The myth of Hello Kitty has crossed countries, has been fueled by cartoons, lots of merchandising, and has won the hearts of entire generations around the world, especially among the little ones, becoming a real cultural phenomenon.
Welcome Ronfi
Also arriving at the festival are Adriano Carnevali’s I Ronfi , born in 1981 on the Corriere dei Piccoli, are cute anthropomorphic rodents with long hanging ears that spend their days trying to avoid the wolf (bad only so to speak) that wants to eat them. They are very fond of soft wood, they play, chat (even too much) and – of course – snooze.
From the comic they became the protagonists of a very recent animated series, produced by RaiKids and GERTIE with the participation of Something Big. The direction is by Marco Bigliazzi, while Carnevali collaborated on the lyrics with the producer Franco Serra (Gertie). The music is by Vince Tempera.
