Art experts Sabrina Foschini and Alessandro Giovanardi, in conversation with a comics and cartoons specialist, will take us on a journey through a colorful feline colony.
From the veneration of ancient Egypt to classical portraits in art history, all the way to the world of animation, cats have always enchanted the collective imagination. This evening retraces their iconic evolution through art, irony, and elegance – qualities that perfectly reflect the charm of our furry protagonists. The event was inspired by tales of unforgettable cats taken from the NFC-published volume La mia storia nell’arte, where the cats themselves narrate their own stories—and those of the artists who portrayed them – in the first “person”.
Masters of elegance and cunning, our beloved kitties have inspired countless brushes… and just as many pencils. Think of Felix the Cat, Krazy Kat, the honey-tongued Garfield, the tormented Tom and Sylvester, the ever-smiling Cheshire Cat, the seductive Puss in Boots, the surreal Catbus from Totoro, the ruthless Lucifer from Cinderella, and of course the Aristocats with their fitting refrain: Everybody wants to be a cat!
