Vince Tempera

The award ceremony of the Festival will take place at the evocative Corte degli Agostiniani. On this occasion, the public will have the opportunity to participate in a special event dedicated to the soundtracks of animated cinema, held by the master Vince Tempera.

Vince Tempera is a true icon of Italian music. Composer of songs and hundreds of soundtracks for cinema, including the famous “Febbre da cavallo“, he is also the author of famous theme songs for cartoons such as Ufo Robot and Goldrake. In addition to being a talented keyboardist and arranger, he crossed the rock of the 70s and was among the protagonists of the great season of songwriting, collaborating with artists of the caliber of Lucio Battisti, Mina and Francesco Guccini. For over 40 years, he has also been one of the main conductors of the Sanremo Festival.

A dialogue about his career and his passions, including animated and non-animated cinema, comics and music, all with musical hints played live and audiovisual contributions, and the accompaniment of comic authors who will draw live.

The event will be the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the magic of music for animated cinema, thanks to the fascinating performance and stories of Maestro Tempera accompanied by Maestro Franco Benedetto Morri and Sergio Algozzino. Between chats, memories and listening to music, the evening promises to be an exciting and unmissable moment for fans.

The following prizes will be awarded during the evening:

Lifetime Achievement Award for animated cinema: Simone Massi

Simone Massi is one of Italy’s greatest independent animators internationally, with 800 awards to his credit, including a David di Donatello and four Nastri d’Argento. In 2019 he won the Flaiano Prize. With his first feature film Invelle he won the Carlo Lizzani Prize in the Orizzonti section at the 80th Venice International Film Festival (September 2023). At Cartoon Club there will be: a solo exhibition of animated films, an exhibition, a meeting with the public.

Lifetime Achievement Award for comic literature: Vittorio Giardino

Vittorio Giardino was born in 1946 in Bologna, he is a renowned and refined Italian comic book author. Giardino is also known for its style that adheres to the “clear line”. His works have been translated into 14 languages and published in 18 countries.

At Cartoon Club there will be an exhibition, a meeting with the public and a Masterclass.

Romagnabanca special prize to “Sapiens” by Bruno Bozzetto

A special prize will be awarded to the famous animator Bruno Bozzetto for his latest film: Sapiens. Using a mixed animation technique, the film consists of three short musical films inspired by classical pieces by Verdi, Chopin and Beethoven. The film explores the question of whether man is truly “sapiens” (wise) as its scientific name suggests, addressing topics such as war, relationship and violence towards animals. Each of the three short films is preceded by an introduction by Bozzetto on the subject matter.

“Cartoon Club For The Environment – Romagna Acque” Award

The Cartoon Club Festival has always shown sensitivity to emerging issues and since 2021 has established the Cartoon Club Award for the Environment which from this year combines its mission with that of Romagna Acque, to support animation works that best combine art and significant environmental messages.
