SCREENING and MEETING with Riccardo Mazzoli and Federico Fiecconi

The animated film Acquateam – The Great Adventure at Sea is produced by Federico Fiecconi for GraFFiti Creative in collaboration with Rai Kids, and co-produced by Toonz Media Group (India) and Telegael (Ireland). Written by Colin and Jonathan Davis, the film is directed by Riccardo Mazzoli (animation) and Gigi Tufano (live action), with music and original songs by Fabrizio Mancinelli of the Antoniano Institute.

The film is based on the popular TV series AcquaTeam, aired on Rai, and tells the exciting journey of the AcquaTeam as they explore, understand, and protect the Blue Planet—raising awareness among young audiences about the importance of preserving oceans and marine environments.

On this special occasion, Riccardo Mazzoli — graphic creator of the character Otty the octopus and director of the film — and Federico Fiecconi — producer and project creator — meet with children to engage them in a creative and participatory experience.
The interaction between creators and audience becomes an integral part of the film’s educational message, promoting environmental awareness in a fun and engaging way.

The plot:

Marysun is a determined and passionate marine biologist who dedicates her life to protecting the marine ecosystem.
By her side are Otty, a fun-loving rapping octopus with a quick tongue and a heart of gold, capable of turning scientific concepts into catchy songs, and Desy, a clever and spirited girl deeply connected to the sea of her homeland, Sardinia.

Aboard the Catamarino, a sustainable and high-tech laboratory ship, the trio embarks on a journey around the world, visiting coral reefs, mysterious seabeds, marine reserves, and islands threatened by pollution.
Every stop is an opportunity to discover new species and cultures and to face environmental challenges — always with teamwork and a touch of humor.

The film blends adventure, music, and science, offering audiences a captivating story and a message of hope: together, even the youngest among us can make a difference to protect the sea.
